The Government predicts “a complicated winter” in energy after the Putin decision

The Spanish government predicts “a complicated winter” for Europe, after Vladimir Putin’s decision to mobilize part of his reservists in the war in Ukraine. The third vice president of the Government, Teresa Ribera has described as “dramatic” the decision of the Russian premier.

“It is for Ukraine, but also for the rest of the world and for the European Union and (the decision) augurs a complicated winter,” Ribera said in the halls of Congress before entering the plenary. The Minister of Ecological Transition has urged to “stay united at the European level” and has taken the opportunity to ask her EU colleagues the need to “accelerate our energy independence from Russia”.

The minister believes that she believes that if Russia is not cut, European society will suffer even more from the consequences. Although he has insisted that in Spain “the supply is guaranteed”, he claims that we must be in solidarity with countries such as “Germany, Finland or Austria” that have greater energy dependence on Russia. “Europe already takes for granted that we are not going to have gas from Russia,” he confirmed, but acknowledges that it is in a “situation of tension.”

The Spanish vice president insists that this is the time to “change our energy model and reduce that dependence by using indigenous resources.”

A “cruel” war that Putin “has already lost”

Presidency Minister Felix Bolanos has said that Putin’s decision only brings “more pain and more destruction,” but that the Russian president “has the war lost.” Moncloa sees Putin’s order to recruit reservists to the Ukrainian front as a “flight forward.”

“It is a dramatic decision, a long, cruel and unjust war for Ukrainians,” said Teresa Ribera, but also “for Russian citizens forcibly mobilized in a conflict that neither goes nor comes to them.”

Already within the control session to the Government, the third vice president and minister of Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, has assured that consumers are paying between 20% and 30% less for the electricity bill than they would disburse in the absence of the measures adopted by the Government and against the criteria of the PP.

“Our consumers are paying between 20% and 30% less than they would pay in the absence of the measures adopted by this Government and against the ‘popular’ criterion, stressed Ribera who has stressed that the Government responds “seriously and responsibly to the request of the European Union to be in solidarity with our neighbors in gas, electricity and economy and social support”.
