In the fight against the climate crisis, countries historically responsible for excessive CO₂ emissions would have to pay about $6 trillion each year, until 2050, to compensate other states vulnerable to global warming for which they are not responsible.

Industrialized countries that emit excessive levels of carbon dioxide (CO₂) should pay a total of 170 billion dollars in compensation or reparations until 2050 to ensure compliance with the objectives of combating climate change, according to an international study led by the University of Leeds and in which the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) has participated.
