EU and US curb methane emissions

Oil and gas companies will have to drastically reduce emissions of these gases, which cause 50% of global warming

Oil and gas companies will have to reduce their methane emissions in the coming years. The European Union, the United States and China are moving to curb a gas that is responsible for more than half of global warming. The United States, the People’s Republic of China and the United Arab Emirates have convened a Summit to accelerate action to reduce methane and other greenhouse gases other than CO₂ as the fastest way to reduce warming in the short term and maintain the goal of limiting global average temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
