The energy, construction and real estate sectors invest the most in decarbonisation

The energy, construction and real estate sectors are investing the most in decarbonising their activities and achieving a low-carbon business model, according to the ‘European Taxonomy Breakdowns Report. Fiscal year 2022’ published by the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).

Specifically, these sectors have the highest fixed asset investment (CapEx) ratios in line with the European Union’s climate taxonomy. The CNMV explains that the economic activities carried out by companies and that are related to the mitigation or adaptation of climate change can be identified as ‘eligible’ or ‘aligned’. An activity is eligible if it is included among the activities included in the European delegated climate regulation, which identifies those activities that, a priori, contribute to the mitigation or adaptation of climate change.
