CO2 would _{reach EUR 250/t without free duties – consultant}

The phasing out of the European Union (EU) ETS’s free allocation of allowances, coupled with a reduction in the emissions cap, could push the price of European CO₂ to EUR 249/t by 2034, British consultancy Redshaw Advisors told Montel.

From 2026, the free allocation of allowances from the EU ETS will be phased out over a period of nine years for sectors covered by the CO₂ border adjustment mechanism (CBAM), coinciding with the introduction of the latter.
