Spain adapts CO₂ emissions trading to the EU: free of charge ends and ships enter

The Council of Ministers approved on Tuesday, at the proposal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, a draft law that aims to incorporate into Spanish legislation the modifications to the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Rights Trading System that is applied in the European Union.

“Since it began to be applied almost 20 years ago, emissions from the energy sector have been significantly reduced in Europe as a whole, but many things have also happened that have allowed us to improve, to refine, with the aim of achieving a 55% reduction in emissions in the European Union as a whole by 2030,” said the Third Vice-President of the Government and Minister for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge, Teresa Ribera.
