Ribera urges accelerated reduction of emissions after exceeding the 1.5ºC threshold

The global temperature of the last 12 months exceeded the threshold of 1.5 degrees for the first time, a “hugely worrying” figure for the third vice-president of Spain and Minister for Ecological Transition, Teresa Ribera, who called for accelerating the reduction of emissions.

“We can’t get used to reading this data as if nothing is happening, because they are serious warning signs and that’s why the reinforced message of accelerating climate policies, of preparing for the impacts of climate change, of drastically reducing the sources of greenhouse gas emissions is so important,” Ribera said in an interview with EFE in New Delhi.
