Ribera activates the transfer to renewables of the great ‘plug’ to the electricity grid of the Garoña nuclear power plant

The Government launches the process for a first ‘auction’ between new green plants of the connection to the grid released by Iberdrola, Endesa and Naturgy after the closure of the nuclear plant and several coal plants.

Access points to the electricity grid have become a treasure coveted by energy companies. The saturation of the grid in some areas and the boom of new renewable plants has turned these connection points into a scarce and hotly contested commodity, even generating speculative movements of resale of projects just to have permission to plug into the grid.
