Biomethane is emerging as a key alternative to fossil fuels, helping to reduce CO2 emissions, improve air quality and move towards a more sustainable and secure energy model.
The growth of the biogas sector as an environmental solution that provides renewable energy and biofertilizers is a reality at the European level, and in Spain, it has begun its development more recently but with a large number of projects underway. Next, we are going to analyze the advantages of biomethane compared to fossil fuels.
The climate emergency is beginning to take its toll and has accelerated the need for an ecological transition where biomethane will be a key element in achieving the goal of decarbonising Europe. Despite the fact that Spain is still highly dependent on fossil fuels, biomethane is a key option in the country’s decarbonisation.
