A report by Moeve estimates that by 2040 green molecules could replace between 20% and 40% of the current demand for fossil fuels in Europe.
Green molecules, such as renewable hydrogen, synthetic fuels, advanced biofuels, biomethane and sustainable chemical feedstocks, could account for between 25% and 33% of the European Union’s energy mix by 2050 and replace up to half of the current demand for fossil fuels, according to a report prepared by Moeve on the role of these technologies in the European energy transition. The study concludes that the rapid implementation of these solutions will be decisive for Europe to achieve its climate objectives, reduce its external energy dependence and strengthen the competitiveness of its industry in a context marked by geopolitical instability and tensions in international energy markets.
