EU gives green light to Euro 7 to reduce car emissions from 2026

The approved text provides that the regulation for passenger cars will apply 30 months after its final adoption by the Council and the European Parliament (at the beginning of 2024) and 48 months later for heavy vehicles.

The European Parliament and the Council of the European Union (EU) today reached a provisional agreement to introduce the “Euro 7” standard and thus reduce emissions from cars from 2026 and for trucks by 2028, in line with industry demands, but lowering the ambition of the European Commission’s original proposal.
