Spain and 10 countries commit to promoting the decarbonisation of transport by 2035

Eleven countries, including Brazil, Colombia and Spain, joined a joint declaration at COP30 in Belém on Friday, to promote the decarbonisation of the transport sector with concrete and measurable targets for 2035.

In a document released by the Government of Chile, which promoted the initiative, the signatory countries commit to reducing the demand for transport energy by 25% by 2035 and, in addition, that a third of the energy they use comes from renewable sources and sustainable biofuels.

The eleven countries that have joined to date are Austria, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Honduras, the Dominican Republic, Norway, Slovenia, Spain and Portugal.
