Spain faces 141 climate risks that affect health, economy and biodiversity

Spain faces 141 climate risks that affect health, the economy and biodiversity, 51 of them are “key risks” due to their severity or imminence and 17 have low reversibility, which means that they could generate permanent losses if action is not taken quickly.

For a State Pact in the Face of the Climate Emergency

This is the conclusion reached by the Assessment of Risks and Impacts of Climate Change in Spain (ERICC-2025), which the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) presented this Tuesday within the framework of the convention For a State Pact against the Climate Emergency that Ecological Transition held this Monday and Tuesday in Ponferrada (Castilla y León).

The presentation event was attended by the third vice-president and head of the Department, Sara Aagesen, who acted as moderator in a talk with representatives of the different institutions that have participated in the preparation of the text: IH Cantabria, Tecnalia, the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) and the Spanish Office for Climate Change (OECC), which has coordinated the work.
