The grants can be applied for from January 26 to March 2
The second edition of the RENOCOGEN programme will bring benefits in terms of employment and industrial fabric, and will lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions
The aid will benefit producers of electricity and/or heat from biomass, biogas, geothermal, aerothermal energy, as well as wind, solar and hydroelectric with storage, among other sources. The programme favours the strategic and energy autonomy of the industry, by reducing costs and leading to less dependence on fossil fuels, which improves the competitiveness of companies.
The Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) has launched the second call for grants for projects to produce electricity and/or heat with renewable energies to replace the use of fossil fuels (natural gas, fuel oil and diesel). This new RENOCOGEN call is endowed with 50 million euros of Next Generation EU funds channelled through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (RTRP). RENOCOGEN is specifically aimed at owners of cogeneration and waste treatment plants that replace fossil sources with renewable ones. In addition to reducing the carbon footprint, this programme favours strategic and energy autonomy, providing industry with an affordable electricity and thermal supply alternative, by reducing costs and entailing less dependence on fossil fuels. It is an effective way to improve the competitiveness of companies. The promotion of renewable electricity and thermal production will also bring important socio-economic benefits for local communities in terms of employment and industrial fabric, and will lead to a reduction in CO₂ emissions.
It will thus contribute to the decarbonisation of the economy, in line with the provisions of the PNIEC (National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan), the Spanish roadmap in this area until 2030.
