Climate change indicators reach record levels in 2023: WMO

Records were broken for ocean heat, sea level rise, loss of Antarctic sea ice, and retreating glaciers.

According to the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) report on the state of the global climate in 2023, heat waves, floods, droughts, wildfires and the rapid intensification of tropical cyclones caused misery and chaos, disrupting the daily lives of millions of people and causing billions of dollars in economic losses.
