CO₂ capture: progress and challenges in the fight against climate change

Techniques to capture and store carbon are key in the fight against climate change and are evolving in response to the challenge of reducing CO₂ emissions.

Long marginal, techniques for reducing or removing CO₂ in the atmosphere thrive because of the human inability to contain greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for global warming. There are two different methods that are sometimes confused. On the one hand, carbon capture and storage (CCS), and on the other, direct capture in the air (DAC), also called carbon removal.
