Canada Urges Japanese Companies to Invest in Critical Minerals for EV Batteries

Canada is urging Japanese companies to invest in the development of critical minerals used in electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This call comes as part of a bilateral agreement between Canada and Japan to establish EV battery supply chains. With demand for electric cars increasing around the world, Canada sees Japan as the biggest opportunity for EV battery development in the next 50 years.

The agreement on battery supply chains, signed by the respective ministers of economy, trade and industry of both countries, marks an unprecedented collaboration. It is also the first agreement Japan has made with a foreign country on battery storage.
