UNEP Emissions Gap Report 2026.

The report redefines the emissions gap by referring to a 1.5°C overshoot scenario, which assumes that mitigation measures are taken from 2025 onwards. This scenario is characterised by limiting peak warming to 1.7-1.8°C and bringing global average temperatures back to 1.5°C or below by 2100. This scenario remains aligned with the Paris Agreement target, while pursuing the 1.5°C target.
