The update of the procedures for the energy certification of buildings comes into force

Since 30 September 2026, the registers of the autonomous communities only accept energy performance certificates made with the latest updated versions of the recognised procedures, except for the exceptions provided for in the regulations, as reported by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (Miteco). The new tools incorporate the modifications introduced in the Recognised Documents for the energy certification of buildings.
The entry into force took place on 30 September. The update is part of Royal Decree 390/2021, articles 4 and 5 of which regulate the recognised documents and the use of the latest registered version. The regulations provide for an exception for certain certificates of completed work, in addition to the exceptions provided for by regulations.

New versions for the regional registers
With the entry into force of the changes, professionals must check the version of the program used before registering the documentation corresponding to the building’s energy certification.
