Sánchez once again calls for a State pact against climate change after Los Gallardos

The President of the Government warns from Turre’s command post of the worsening of the climate emergency, warns about misinformation during disasters and anticipates a “complex” summer after the fire has caused 13 deaths.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has called this Monday, July 13, from the advanced command post of Turre, in Almeria, a State pact in the face of the climate emergency after the forest fire registered last week in Los Gallardos, which has caused the death of 13 people, because he considers it necessary to strengthen prevention and response capacity in the face of increasingly frequent and serious phenomena.

An agreement to prevent
Sánchez made these statements after meeting with those responsible for the emergency device and with the mayors of the towns affected by the fire. During his speech, he also warned about the danger of misinformation in emergency situations and pointed out that Spain is facing a “difficult” summer in terms of forest fires. The head of the Executive recalled that the Government has put on the table a proposal to “articulate a great agreement on the climate emergency”, whose purpose is to anticipate disasters and not limit the action of the administrations to react when fires have already been declared.
