Ursula von der Leyen defends this energy source to ensure European energy autonomy

The Spanish nucleras have once again repeated the request that the life of the central schools be extended in another ten years, encouraged by the declarations of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who has substantiated in Prague (Czech Republic) that Europe needs to “produce more energy of its own: more renewable energies, more nuclear energy, more efficiency” to ensure the energy dependence of the Union.

An independence that, he said, was put at risk by Russian President Vladimir Putin after the EU’s rejection of the invasion of Ukraine.

In her participation in the GLOBSEC 2024 Forum – an international conference on security in which politicians, businessmen, think tanks, academics and NGOs participate – Von der Leyen was blunt in pointing out that “Putin’s attempt to blackmail our Union has not only completely failed, but has in fact triggered the push for indigenous European renewable energy that makes us independent”.
