The role of plastics in the European circular economy.

Plastic consumption is expected to grow in line with global plastics production. The circularity of plastic material is increasing at a slow pace, but there are encouraging trends: mechanical recycling capacity is increasing, and EU plastic waste exports are decreasing, while bioplastics production capacity is growing, as is the use of recycled plastics.
