Global nitrous oxide emissions up 40% since 1980

It is a more potent greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide and methane

The agricultural sector is responsible for 74% of them, according to a study

Global emissions of nitrous oxide (N2O) – a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon dioxide (CO₂) or methane (CH4) – from human activities increased by 40% between 1980 and 2020, accelerating climate change.

This is stated in a new report sponsored by the academic consortium Global Carbon Project.
