The European Green Deal set a path towards the target of a 55% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to 1990 levels by 2030. In July 2021, the Commission presented its Fit for 55 report with policy proposals to make this ambition a reality, and since then, those policies have been incorporated into EU law, such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
