Green finance ‘atlas’ expands to 35 taxonomies

• That number has skyrocketed from 25 just 18 months ago
• Governments and private actors seek common ground in this ‘Tower of Babel’
• Latin American taxonomies coincide with that of the EU

Much has been said in 2023 about the European green taxonomy, the classification of economic activities that, in the eyes of the EU, are environmentally sustainable. European companies have already started reporting their activities based on it, and the more aligned their businesses are with the taxonomy, the more likely they are to lower their cost of financing and be included in sustainable investment portfolios. For investors, the taxonomy lets them know that the green assets in their funds really are.
