Ribera will force SMEs linked to large companies to reduce their carbon footprint by 2024

The new bill will require this requirement for those suppliers of large companies. It is expected to be approved early this year.

The objective of reducing the carbon footprint will gradually break into the Spanish business fabric. At the moment, 0.2% of companies comply with this green requirement. Although large companies had already assimilated this requirement, and many of them had even registered their plans to reduce the_CO2 they generate, small and medium-sized enterprises still glimpsed this commitment with a distance and a certain disinterest. However, the bill prepared by the Government will force those SMEs that are part of the value chain of a large company to also reduce their carbon footprint. A scenario that breaks with the idea that the measure will be voluntary for SMEs.
