Climate change poses multiple threats to human health and well-being in Europe. Extreme weather events such as devastating floods, extensive wildfires and heat waves have become part of our reality. The biggest direct climate- and health-related threat to humans in Europe is heat, and the large number of excess deaths during the summer of 2022 are a good example of this.
