The Government has approved the “Long-Term Strategy for a Modern, Competitive and Climate-Neutral Spanish Economy in 2050” (ELP 2050). This document responds to Spain’s commitments as a Member State of the EU and to the Paris Agreement, and marks the path to achieving climate neutrality no later than 2050, identifying the opportunities offered by this transition in economic matters and generation of job. The ELP 2050 marks a route that will allow a final consumption of fully renewable energy by mid-century, which will increase the competitiveness of the Spanish economy and generate positive effects on health, biodiversity and adaptation to climate change.
