Energy Storage Strategy

Approved by the Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO), it contemplates having a storage capacity of about 20 GW in 2030 and reaching 30 GW in 2050, considering both large-scale storage as distributed. The document deals with the technical analysis of the different generation alternatives, the diagnosis of the current challenges of energy storage, the lines of action to advance in the fulfillment of the foreseen objectives, evaluates the opportunities and quantifies the storage needs to contribute to the decarbonization of the energy system.
