COP25 is already the longest climate change conference in history

The climate summit that has been held in Madrid since last day 2 has already become the longest climate change conference in history, after almost two days of extension due to lack of agreement.

The twenty-four Conferences of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change have lasted less time than the one that is still being held at the Madrid trade fair institution under the presidency of Chile, which renounced to host it in Santiago due to the serious internal crisis that the country is experiencing.

So far, the longest Conference has been held in Durban (COP17), which lasted 36 hours after the official close.

At 6:00 local time (7:00 GMT) last morning that threshold was exceeded at the Madrid Conference, which is still rushing the negotiations to try to achieve an agreement that can be accepted by all parties.
