The BIORESILMED project promotes innovative practices and solutions to promote the bioeconomy, foster biodiversity and increase the climate resilience of Spanish Mediterranean landscapes, represented mostly by coastal wetlands and inland agricultural landscapes.
\nBIORESILMED aims to develop an alternative economic model for these rural Mediterranean territories and extend it to other similar landscapes, through pilot tests, network building, capacity building, development of new business models, citizen participation and generation of green employment.
\nThe solutions and tools developed will make it possible to promote the bioeconomy and climate resilience of these types of landscapes, using the Ebro Delta and the AlVelAl Territory (Granada, Almeria and Murcia) as a model, and based on applied research and innovation to favour and extend the restoration of natural capital, organic and regenerative agriculture, and nature tourism as an opportunity to improve the situation of these territories of great importance and are threatened by the climate emergency and depopulation.<\/p>\n
Objectives of the project:
\nBIORESILMED has the ambition to generate tools and solutions to co-design a plan and execute actions that promote the bioeconomy in these landscapes. The model driven by the project is based on applied research and innovation to favor and extend the restoration of natural capital, organic and regenerative agriculture, and nature tourism as an opportunity to strengthen their climate resilience and foster a just transition.<\/p>\n
Promotion of the bioeconomy in Mediterranean landscapes: design of a plan to promote the bioeconomy in coastal and inland Mediterranean landscapes.
\nIntegrity and resilience of Mediterranean ecosystems: promoting the integrity and resilience of Mediterranean ecosystems, enhancing ecosystem services.
\nLiving Lab and pilot farm network: deployment of a Living Lab and a network of pilot farms for innovation in bioeconomy and climate resilience.
\nOrganic farming and nature tourism: development and diversification of productive activities that promote nature tourism and organic farming.
\nNatural capital-based business models: developing and improving business models based on natural capital.
\nSpecialised training and volunteering: promotion and promotion of specialised training and volunteering focused on promoting the bioeconomy and territorial resilience.<\/p>\n

\nBIORESILMED is led by the Eurecat Technology Centre and has as partners the Centre for Ecological Research and Forest Applications \u2013 CREAF, the Aland Foundation, the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation, the Private Business and Climate Foundation, SEO\/BirdLife and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili. Among its collaborators, BIORESILMED has the AlVelAl Association.
