{"id":15002,"date":"2011-11-01T10:40:14","date_gmt":"2011-11-01T09:40:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/empresaclima.org\/proyecto\/etbho\/"},"modified":"2024-07-31T08:39:51","modified_gmt":"2024-07-31T07:39:51","slug":"etbho","status":"publish","type":"proyecto","link":"https:\/\/empresaclima.org\/en\/proyecto\/etbho\/","title":{"rendered":"ETBHO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Improvement of <\/strong><strong>Energy Efficiency<\/strong><strong>, Land Use and <\/strong><strong>Biodiversity of the<\/strong><strong> hotel sector in Las Palmas (ETBHO).<em><\/em> Project developed by the Business and Climate Foundation co-financed by the <strong>Empleaverde Program<\/strong> of the Biodiversity Foundation. <strong>What is empleaverde?<\/strong> The <strong>empleaverde programme <\/strong>is the initiative of the <strong>Biodiversity Foundation<\/strong> for the improvement of employment and the environment.<\/strong> It integrates projects that initiate change processes related to the environment and sustainability. Under this program, the Foundation seeks alliances with other organizations and institutions that share the same objectives. For the period 2007-2013, the <strong>Employ Green Program<\/strong> has set itself the goal of supporting more than 50,000 people and promoting the creation of some 1,000 companies linked to the environment. To achieve this goal, the Program has a total allocation of 44.1 million euros, of which the ESF co-finances 80% or 50% depending on the region in question. The <strong>empleaverde Programme <\/strong>supports projects that set in motion processes of change related to the environment and sustainability and that have among their objectives: To promote and improve employment in general and green employment in particular.  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increase the skills and qualification of workers in environmental and sustainability issues.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the modernization and innovation of companies and sectors of activity.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the creation of companies linked to the environment.<\/li>\n<li>Adapt economic activities to environmental regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Promote the sustainability of economic activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Objectives of the ETBHO project:<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>  This project proposes the adaptation of the tourism sector, specifically the hotel sector, to the local, regional, national and European challenge of the fight against climate change by raising awareness and training workers in the sector itself. The project focuses its activities on hotel facilities as they have the highest percentage of employed workers compared to the tourism industry as a whole and where the introduction of measures to minimise environmental and social impacts, for energy and water saving and efficiency, in coherence with an environmentally sustainable strategy,  They can be easily applied by workers in the different defined areas:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direction-management<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Administrative staff, catering, cleaning and other additional services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Why the province of Las Palmas?<\/strong>  The selection of the territorial scope of the project responds to the clear need to start in a very representative pilot area at the tourist level in order to later be able to replicate the results throughout the Spanish territory. In this sense, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism of the Superior Council of Chambers of Commerce (CSC), the chamber demarcations of Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote have been selected, which correspond to the province of Las Palmas (Canary Islands). ). During the project, visits and awareness-raising will be made to the chambers and hotel business associations of the province of Tenerife in order to establish synergies and also benefit from the project&#8217;s actions. The selection of the sample of hotels considered in this project has been based on all the hotels in the province of Las Palmas and those that have more than 26 workers. This means a volume of 94 hotels and a total of 15,783 workers benefiting from this project.  <strong>The project contributes to:<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The identification of the activities of the hotel sector and the associated environmental impact (consumption, emissions,&#8230;).<\/li>\n<li>The compilation of good practices and recommendations for the different activities of the hotel sector in terms of sustainable development.<\/li>\n<li>The training and awareness of managers and managers of hotel facilities so that they have criteria and tools for decision-making in environmentally sustainable management.<\/li>\n<li>The training and awareness of hotel equipment maintenance personnel to facilitate the introduction of saving measures associated with the technical maintenance of the facilities (boilers, lights, tanks,&#8230;).<\/li>\n<li>The training and awareness of administration, restoration, cleaning and other additional services personnel towards a new culture of daily habits that favor the fight against climate change and sustainable development.<\/li>\n<li>Raising awareness in the hotel sector and its users through information and communication actions on appropriate environmental practices.<\/li>\n<li>The replicability of the actions in the Canary Islands and in the rest of Spain <strong>.<\/strong><strong> <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recipients:<\/strong><strong> <\/strong>  The total number of workers who will benefit indirectly from this project has been estimated at 15,783.
